Solihull and its surrounding villages were voted the best place to live in the UK in a 2013 survey and who are we to argue?

Solihull has everything you could ever want or need – and that’s not including claims to Top gear’s Richard Hammond, former England rugby captain Martin Johnson, actresses Stephanie Cole and Felicity Kendall and Ritchie Neville from pop band Five to name just a few.

We have a fabulous town centre, beautiful villages and countryside, easy access to the nation’s second city, rail links to London, an airport to take you anywhere in the world, not to mention some of the best entertainment venues outside the capital including the NEC, Symphony Hall and NEC Arena.

Employment is good – and high and the schools of the borough are among the very best. Despite all this, the town still remains true to its age-old motto of ‘Urbs in Rure’ – or Town in Country. Our aim is to offer readers an informative and entertaining read every week, and we put all our efforts into achieving just that. There is a strong sense of community in the borough and the Observer is proud to have been be at the heart of the community for many years.
